The Strimmer... Intended for cutting the Long Grass, many people use Strimmers to do just that, little do they know is that they are being a Mechanical menace- killing sleeping Hedgehogs!
More and more gardeners are using strimmers and lawnmowers- to cut long grass, but despite everything, many Hedgehogs are maimed and even killed.
When the people decide to strim the long grass, Sleeping, nesting or Hibernating Hedgehogs don't run away from the noise, they curl up into a tight Ball, which is no protection against such a Machine, they may sustain serious injuries and may have half their body missing. As a result they may die in excruciating pain, from a serious, nasty infection, from loosing blood or from the horrible pain it's self, a slow painful death.
This is all because of someone who did not check the grass- Hedgehog Rescue Centres all over Britain are getting sick and tired of this and so am I, I have been looking after a Hedgehog with missing spines due to a strimmer Injury as well.

Look What Strimmers Do!
Here are some pictures of Hedgehogs which have been injured by strimmers. This Hedgehog was cared for by Derek of Epping Forest Hedgehog Rescue. The Hedgehog had various injuries, which include having most of its nose chopped off, its tail and many spines. Spines are important because they are the Hedgehogs only defence against predators. 
Write To Strimmer Manufacturers & Stores
Many people have been writing to Strimmer Manufacturers & Stores.
What the idea is, is to encourage the Manufacturers & stores to put a clear warning sticker on the actual Strimmer so that when the people are about the commence, they will be reminded of Hedgehogs and other wildlife.
